I just read Quarksmom's post on her dog being named Quark... And
since my trail name is Q, which is my dog's name (who IS named after
the Star Trek character) I was just wondering how many of us do
something similar? I know my dog is my best letterboxing partner -
she even has her own logbook! :) -Q

Our dog goes with us and has her own stamp but no logbook. She has
her own water bottle though and goes crazy when the backpack's pulled out.

My dog has her own trail name, Baby Bear, but no journal. She does have a HH out there somewhere, looking to go for a lot of car rides, named for her.

I am known as Keegan the Airedale Terrier. Quite a mouthful actually.
He's my dog and letterboxing buddy. He doesn't have a stamp, but I used
his likness to carve my personal stamp.
I hike with a pack that has a camalback water bladder in it. Keegan drinks
from the stream of water from the hose on those long hot hikes. Keeps him
hydrated.
See you on the trails in the great Pacific Northwest!

My daughter decided to use our cat's name, Lister, for her first
trailname, ListerKitty. She has since changed her trailname and the
stamp has become a hitchhiker. I guess the dog's name wouldn't have
worked as well... going by the trailname "Itchy" makes it sound like
you're just begging for a case of poison ivy!

My dog and I do not use trail names. We go by our real
names but we are well known by the joined names of
Chuck and Molly. Molly has her own stamp and has over
1,000 found letterboxes. It's not too unusual for her
to find the letterbox before I get to it. She even has
her own web page where you can see her and her stamp
image. You can see her at:

I find it funny your dog's name is "Itchy", as that
is our cat's name, sometimes called "Mr. Itchy". He
and his brother were named after Itchy and Scratchy,
but sadly "Scratchy" disappeared.

I just carved stamps for my dogs...one is a very good letterboxer:
she'll sniff out boxes when I get to the general area :P I named
her "boxergirl" because she's part boxer too :P The other one is
Princess Abagail, because she's my spoiled rotten girl. Neither
have logbooks because I'm the only one that will take them
boxing...It would take forever to stamp in 2 or 3 times.

Actually...
My partner-in-crime/wife (Yep, we're legal in Portland, OR.) uses the same name as her very first email nick, chat name, and, "alter ego," as her current email address and letterboxing name, "Rambopupp." In fact shes known by the shortened version, "pupp," to most of our everyday coworkers and friends. (As well as signing all her artwork as, "pupp.") Pupp's stamp is a cartoon style Labrador with horns and a pitchfork. Ask Melanie, Maiden1974, just how well that fits. LOL
My personal stamp is a similar style Labrador wearing cool sunglasses. My stamp name doesn't have a doggie name though... just my everyday name, Jenn.
Both of our canine kids, "Jett Girl," and, "Tank Girl," go boxing with us most of the time. They also have their own stamps and personal travelers, just like we do.
Jett has two jobs. Her first job was, and sometimes still is, as my assistance dog. I'm mostly in remission with my health stuff, so Jett now mostly goes to work with Pupp, helping her counsel kids as an official therapy dog. Letterboxing is an all time favorite activity for Jett. Jett's personal travler reflects both her jobs. Her personal stamp is a Lab wearing a halo. Tank Girl... assistance and therapy dog in training... is new to letterboxing, and loves the walks that it gives her. Her stamp is a Lab wearing a kid's Beanie with propellor (sp?).
As you can see, we're not a family, as much as we are a pack. *chuckle* So when we are *all* present for a find our, "pack stamp," is of a howling wolf (okay... not a doc, but the next best thing) with a moon background and, "Team Nashoba," underneath. (Nashoba is Choctaw for wolf.)
Thanks for asking... This has been fun to get to know more about fellow letterboxers!
May your bowl be always full of kibble... your finds many... and your hitchhikers call home often!

two letters of one of my cats and put it with the last two of my other
cat. Similar except for the feline instead of canine.

Our dogs' names are (is) our trail name. They are B & E and they
usually go Letterboxing with us. B is great at finding the way back
along the trail and we're getting E a pack so that he can be in charge
of supplies. One of the reasons we enjoy Letterboxing is the fun of
spending more time with B & E!

I'm having enough trouble coming up with my trail name as it is lol. I go
between Grampys Gurl, Wild Irish Rose and Queen De Fairview all names my family
jokingly calls me at home, now you wanna know if I add Princess Natasha's
name in too lol. I suppose it could be Queen De Fairview and Princess
Natasha.... going to have to get her, her own log book and backpack :o)

When I read your post, every time I read "B & E" I read it "breaking
and entering" lol.
Do the "B and E" stand for anything? Or do they just have letter
names? Letter names is kinda cute :P I like "Q".
My husband and I went on a tough hike last weekend and he suggested
getting a little pack for one of our dogs to carry water or
something. But I think our dogs are too small for that :( They're
only 16 and 25lbs. If I had a big dog, I'd definately take
advantage of it. I carried all of the water for the four of us, and
it was heavy.

Dogs: boxergirl (Boxer breed letterboxer dog...she's actually
sniffed out a box before I even knew where it was before!) and
Princess Abbey.

A little "breaking and entering" is certainly not beneath B & E, but
their names are Beezley and Elmo and they are golden retrievers.
(Their whole names were just too much of a challenge when I made our
stamp). Elmo tried out his pack for the first time Saturday, and did
very well on the whole; he did christen it by walking into a lake.
We wonder how many human boxers take their dogs with them? Our
biggest problem is caused by ticks; even though we use Frontline on
both boys, we have to do a very thorough "tick check" after each trip.
